Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced architectural salesperson to join the sales team. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, learns quickly, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The primary objective of the position is to sell architectural hardware products to interior designers, architects, general contractors, developers, and homeowners. An integral part of the position is demonstrating strong relationship-building skills with vendors and clients and becoming a trusted, high-value resource in the building community.

Position Summary:

This full-time hardware sales position is excellent for an individual with a passion for design, architecture, and hardware. The position requires an outgoing personality, attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to listen and retain technical information. We are looking for someone with a professional attitude and solid communications skills necessary to interface with both vendors and clients. Essential Functions:

  • Ability to learn and keep up to date on new products entering the market.
  • Greets and assists clients. Help determine best product selection for clients needs.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a relationship with new and existing clients, hardware distributors, and other relevant partners
  • Actively collaborate with the sales team, and provide product recommendations aimed at increasing revenue in the hardware business
  • Process orders in an accurate and timely manner
  • Negotiates vendor terms, pricing and delivery
  • Responsible for entire sales cycle, starting with initial quote, placing orders, and arranging for order pick up or delivery
  • Arranges for return and credit of defective product
  • Assists inside and outside sales associates with questions and orders
  • Adheres to company policies, processes and procedures
  • Assist in receiving product and completing proper paperwork for invoicing
  • Process Cash sale returns and refund paperwork
  • Provide support to outside salesmen which may require traveling to job sites
  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails

Other Duties:

  • Assist with sales at counter as needed.
  • Assist with answering phones as needed.
  • Assist with stocking the hardware section as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

Reliable transportation; excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and follow up skills. Pro-active time management and planning abilities required. Must have knowledge of building industry and architectural hardware.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Architectural hardware sales experience
  • Sales experience in the building industry
  • Technical and computer skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task
  • Exceptional follow up skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with Interior Designers and homeowners
  • Must be familiar/proficient with POS system

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior knowledge with the following brands: Emtek and Baldwin
  • 5-8 years of work experience as a salesperson in a building materials industry

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Indoor - showroom setting
  • Physical demands include lifting, carrying, standing, kneeling, and walking,
  • The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving forklifts, noise, vibration and extreme weather conditions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Work schedule varies and requires employee works some Saturdays and responsible for closing the store on occasion. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some Saturdays, 8:00am to 12:00pm

Travel: Travel to other show room locations for training and sales meetings as necessary.
